My husband and I are in our 60's traveling independently in India and appreciated the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff. They provided a guide to carry our luggage through the old city after the taxi let us out. The rooms are not fancy but are comfortable and cute and we really enjoyed being in a riverfront room although when we were there it was too chilly to sit out on our balcony overlooking the river. In fact, the rooms were chilly but the hotel supplied a heater that did the trick. Rooftop restaurant was great and when it was warm a fun place to hang out and watch the action on the river. Ganpati's location on the ghats was pretty central - a short walk to the cremation ghat and we spent a lot of time hanging out on the ghat where Pilgrims got out of boats to go to the Golden Temple which was very close. We also took advantage of the guide service provided by the hotel and found Billet to be a very knowledgeable and interesting guide.
